Description

The pineapple plant, scientifically known as Ananas comosus, is a tropical fruit-bearing plant that belongs to the Bromeliaceae family. It is a herbaceous perennial plant that grows up to 40cm to 60cm in height and spreads up to 1.5 meters in diameter. The plant has a rosette of long, narrow, spiny leaves that are arranged spirally around a central stem. The leaves are green in color and can grow up to 1.5 meters in length. The pineapple plant produces a single fruit that is cylindrical in shape and covered with a scaly, rough skin. The fruit can grow up to 30cm in length and weigh up to 5kg. The flesh of the fruit is juicy, sweet, and yellow in color, with a fibrous texture. The fruit contains a high amount of vitamin C, manganese, and bromelain, which is a digestive enzyme that helps break down proteins. The pineapple plant is native to South America, specifically Brazil and Paraguay, but is now widely cultivated in tropical regions around the world.
